Butler is a small community located in eastern Waukesha County with an area of just over 500 acres. The village is has 1,846 residents who are proud to call Butler home.
The Village of Butler got it’s beginnings as a a railroad town. In 909, North Western Railway bought out land from local farmers to build a railroad yard. The railroad yard was built to clear up congestion from so many trains running through downtown Milwaukee. At the time, this was the most extensive and costly railway projects in all of the Midwest as the tracks could accommodate over 1,500 cars at once.
Today, Butler is a smaller town that accommodates both residential and industrial needs. Residents can enjoy the local restaurants and shops in town while businesses will be happy with how easily they can import and export goods due to Butler’s proximity to I-41. One of the local restaurants is is Butler Inn, which has become known around the area for it’s Friday Fish Fry. There’s also a couple bars where you can catch a game and get a great drink at a reasonable price.
Butler also has some parks around the area that are waiting to be enjoyed. On the north side of the village is Frontier Park, a decent size park located on the Menomonee River. Frontier Park has ball diamonds, tennis courts, toddler play areas, basketball courts, and a hiking trail. There’s no better way to relax than to sit on a bench and listen to the river flow. Just to the east is the Menomonee River Parkway. With 597 acres of beautiful green area to explore, there’s something here for everyone!
